Casting and sintered manufacture are the two distinct procedures used to make AlNiCo. Sintered AlNiCo is often limited to smaller sizes while Cast AlNiCo can be manufactured in a wide variety of sizes and shapes. However, both procedures result in intricate arrangements and geometries. Due to its processing, standard sintered AlNiCo has tighter dimensional tolerances. Additionally, compared to Cast AlNiCo products, it has somewhat superior mechanical strength but slightly worse magnetic characteristics.
AlNiCo ring magnets are a particular kind of permanent magnet that are mostly composed of an alloy of aluminum, nickel, cobalt, and iron. To increase intrinsic coercivity, the mixture is also supplemented with copper, titanium, and niobium. AlNiCo magnets are recognized for their outstanding temperature stability and corrosion resistance. The Alnico magnet may self-demagnetize if the circuit is left open (self-demagnetization occurs when the working point is moved past the Intrinsic curve's 'knee'). All magnets in free space produce a self-demagnetizing field, but only magnets with extremely low working points and/or low Hci values will exhibit demagnetization as a result of it. Self demagnetization occurs because the magnetic field from the magnet can pass back through the magnet itself (the magnetic path is preferable to the air surrounding the magnet), which is therefore an external demagnetizing field applied by the magnet itself.
